The Harland Svare Sports Training Method !
" Anatomical Alignment and it's direct relationship to Athleticism is the most overlooked and neglected element in the training of Athletes today. " Harland Svare
The Modern Culture Is Robbing The Modern Day Athletes Of Their Athleticism and What To DO ABOUT IT!! Maximum athleticism is achieved by all your muscles being able to function as they were designed to do. If these muscles are not developed sequentially from the crawl stage through puberty, the human body cannot hold its alignment. When this happens, it has a direct effect on the bodies ability to move in all the ways it needs to move. In Jon Entime’s book, "TABOO, WHY BLACK ATHLETES DOMINATE SPORTS AND WHY WE ARE AFRAID TO TALK ABOUT IT," he does an exceptional job of tracking down and very honestly evaluating every theory, scientific study and history of mankind that relates to this subject. What it brings out is what we have been trying to get people to listen to for the last 14 years. It isn’t race that is the primary source for great athletes, it is the CULTURE. The best athletes in the history of time have one common denominator; they come from cultures that have few automobiles, television or computers. As a result, they have to run, walk, climb hills, jump creeks, scale rocks everyplace they go. What we have discovered and put our finger on is that the human body needs this kind of constant movement from the crawl stage through puberty to develop properly. It takes the human body about 15 years to fully develop and grow into maturity. More than any other mammal on this planet. If this development process is interrupted at any time, the human body’s alignment is directly affected. When this happens, the ability to move easily against the pull of gravity is compromised and therefore has a very significant effect on athleticism. The COURSE
TESTIMONIALS Using "THE SVARE" method of training has increased our athletic ability and that in turn has led to increased strength gains, quickness, agility and body control. Since our association with you in 1991, we have won 78% of our games, five Avocado Championships, two CIF Championships and two CIF Runner-ups. All with a smaller, quicker team than our opponents.ED BURKE, HEAD FOOTBALL COACH, TORREY PINES HIGH SCHOOL, SAN DIEGO, CA "THE SVARE" method of training athletes is way ahead of its time." RON NAY, PRO PLAYER DIRECTOR, WASHINGTON REDSKINS "After I met Harland Svare, I knew I had found a coach that really understood what body control was about and how to develop it. The "SVARE" program is the best program I have ever seen to get football players in shape and more important, how to get body control." JIM BUSH, LEGENDARY TRACK COACH, UCLA, CONDITIONING COACH. "I have learned that quickness and leverage are the two most important elements in offensive line play in football. When your body is in alignment, it comes naturally and you’re not thinking. This training allows you to get your body in a better position on the football field." TONY BOSELLI, JACKSONVILLE JAGUAR, NFL ALL - PRO PLAYER THE HARLAND SVARE SPORTS TRAINING METHOD Is designed to duplicate nature’s way of developing the body naturally. Most great athletes come from cultures that have few luxuries. They develop better bodies because they have to move on their own from the crawl stage through maturity. They grow up straight and functional and this has a direct effect on maximized athleticism. Over the last 14 years, we have developed the methods of duplicating primitive or rural workouts that provide the basic foundation of anatomical development to all levels of athletics at all ages. In other words, we duplicate the cultures that produce the best athletes. RIGHT ANGLES AND ATHLETICISM The human body is designed on the basis of parallel and vertical lines forming 90-degree angles to deal with the force of gravity. The vertical lines run down the sides of the body through the shoulders, hips, knees, ankles and feet. The horizontal lines cross through the same joints, forming right angles. It’s a grid. When the 90-degree angles are not right, the structural integrity of the body is compromised and it does not function right. It is critically important for anyone in the athletic world to learn how to identify postural alignments and what kind of problems that go with it, both performance wise and injury wise. FOUR THINGS ATHLETES MUST DO TO GET ATHLETICALLY DEVELOPED RIGHT. 1. RECOGNIZE WHAT DYSFUNCTIONAL ALIGNMENT LOOKS LIKE. Start with recognizing 3 basic conditions and how they affect the individual's performance and vulnerability to injury. Set up individual personal, remedial programs to correct their postural alignment problems. This entails an evaluation and personalized program of remedial exercises to correct the muscular dysfunction's that are affecting their alignment.2. SET UP A "HSSTM" COURSE The "HSSTM" COURSE duplicates a rugged environment that puts the athlete through routines that engage the muscles using your own body weight in every conceivable angle and axis that you can imagine. It develops structural muscles in a natural setting the way nature intended man to do. It also develops the supporting muscles in a natural way to enhance coordination and function strength. It also requires athletes to move quickly with agility and explosion. It is very athletic and extremely demanding cardiovascularly and is ranked number one by every athlete who has participated in it. It duplicates the more primitive environment needed for physical development the way nature intended. 3. RUN HILLS, STADIUM STAIRS AND SYNCHRONIZED RUNNING. This training prepares and develops the body for maximized anatomical, cardiovascular, stamina, function and toughness. You need to duplicate primitive environments wherever you can. You don’t get tough unless you do tough things. It is an absolute necessity to have your athletes in better condition than your opponents. 4. DESIGN STRENGTH PROGRAMS THAT DO NOT EXACERBATE EXISTING ALIGNMENT PROBLEMS. This is not the same as doing flexibility routines to offset lifting, although that is important. This is about postural alignment and function that has a direct effect on athleticism and vulnerability to injuries. We have widely been misunderstood that we are against weight lifting. The weight room has its place, but if a strength coach does not know how to account for anatomical alignment, they will directly compromise athleticism. Most weight lifting routines are only in the linear plane, where as almost all athletic movements are sideways, diagonal, up, down or backwards.
Harland is available for coaches clinics, workshops, and development of training courses for teams, schools and organizations. COURSE at Torrey Pines High School in San Diego, CA.
