FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact 310- 263-2200 Ex-NFL Player Reggie Grant named new Head Football Coach at Leuzinger High School. Lawndale, California, Wednesday, June 09, 2010, Principal Dr. Ryan Smith announced that Reginald “Reggie” Grant former NFL player was named Head Football Coach at Leuzinger High School. Coach Grant is currently a high school English teacher in the Los Angeles area. The program will interview for assistant coaches and support staff for a variety of positions. Coach Grant is in his eighth year of teaching. Last year he was the National Director of Football Operations and Head Football Coach for the NFL funded Youth Impact Football & Academic Program which started at USC in 2006. Last summer it hosted sites at USC, University of South Florida, Tulane University and Rice University. Coach Grant trained the Coaching staff at all four sites and wrote the Coaching Manuel. The camp is held July for 6th, 7th and 8th graders and this year will be at Tulane and Syracuse Universities. Coach Grant will not continue with the program with the acceptance of this position. Coach Grant is the former Head Coach at South Gate High School. Coach Grant spent over twenty years in San Diego as a business owner, and corporate marketing professional prior to entering teaching. An avid golfer he has contacts in the sports industry with professional athletes, coaches and sport experts. He earned his college education on a football scholarship while attending the University of Oregon. During his stay at Oregon, he was a three-year starting cornerback and kick returner. He showed enough promise to be drafted and make the New York Jets in the NFL. He also played in the CFL with the Ottawa Roughriders. He works with several youth related charities including the Watkins Award for scholar athletes (www.naaaa.com). Coach Grant was formerly the cofounder with Super Bowl Champion Dan Audick and Executive Vice President of Electronic Playbook, Inc. ePlaybook, which under his direction was a Finalist for the Start Up of the Year Award in 1999, presented by the San Diego Software and Internet Council. Coach Grant also served as the Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Nisus Software, Inc. Coach Grant grew up in Seattle, Washington and attended Chief Sealth High School. He earned seven varsity letters in football, basketball and track. An All-State track performer he finished 3rd in the State in the 100 yd dash as a senior.
